Your Vote Counts is a political action committee formed by members of the Democratic Organization of the County of Richmond. Biographies of some of our founders appear below. The PAC was formed to help educate the voters of New York about current issues that impact their decisions to vote for a candidate. The genesis of this was our outrage at the way in which the extension of term limits was handled in the City of New York.
Regardless of whether you support or oppose term limits, most people agree that the decision belonged to them, not the City Council. The voters of NYC made a choice and that choice - our vote - was disregarded. Voters should have been given the opportunity to be heard in a referendum to decide whether they wanted to support an extension of term limits. While the vast majority of voters were opposed to the manner in which the extension of term limits was handled, many of those voters will still support candidates who voted for the extension or who are running for a third term. We hope that through this website and YOUR SUPPORT we can educate people about the term limits vote and connect the dots for voters - so we can help defeat candidates running for third terms - and give meaning to the votes we cast twice in referendums.
